M.K. Stalin inaugurates worker housing in Coimbatore
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched a new accommodation for industrial workers at the SIDCO Industrial Estate in Coimbatore. The project, worth ₹23.05 crores, can house 528 workers. It consists of 111 rooms spread over 1.4 acres and is designed to provide comfortable living for workers employed in the industrial area. The workers' accommodation will be rented out to industrial units at the estate. These companies will pay rent to the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO). The Coimbatore SIDCO Industrial Estate Manufacturers Welfare Association will manage the facility. They plan to allocate rooms based on the needs of different units. Currently, there are over 3,000 workers in the estate, and the building has the potential to add two more floors in the future. In addition to the accommodation facility, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a common facility center for a plastic mould cluster in Vellalore, Coimbatore, remotely. This center covers 4,600 square feet and was built at a cost of ₹4.4 crores, with a grant of ₹2.5 crores from the Tamil Nadu government. It is open to small and micro industries in the area, even though the cluster has only 20 members. The facility is expected to create around 400 jobs.
