Modeling Earth's future aids search for advanced civilizations
A team from the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science and NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center has modeled potential scenarios for Earth's technosphere 1,000 years from now, yielding nearly 5,800 scenarios. Their research, which emphasizes diverse future trajectories, suggests that advanced civilizations may not always exhibit rapid growth. The findings could inform the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) by identifying new technosignatures.
