Monmouth Mall transforms into open-air Monmouth Square
Monmouth Mall in Eatontown, New Jersey, is undergoing a major transformation. The mall is being rebranded as Monmouth Square. This project is being led by Kushner Cos. They aim to create an open-air market along with luxury apartments. The concept of "de-malling" is becoming popular. This approach aims to keep malls relevant by reducing retail space. Monmouth Square will reduce its retail area by 40%. The new design will offer free-standing shops, cafes, medical offices, and green spaces. There will also be 1,000 new apartments. Construction began last spring, and some changes are already in place. Barnes & Noble has moved to a new location and opened a revamped cafe. This change allowed Whole Foods Market to take over the old Barnes & Noble space. Recently, Kushner announced several new tenants for Monmouth Square. Exciting new stores will include Prince Street Pizza, Cava, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, Offshore Coffee, and Strong Pilates. These businesses will join Whole Foods in the revitalized area, with openings expected next year. So far, nearly 50,000 square feet of retail space has been leased. Monmouth Square is quickly becoming a bustling center for shopping, dining, and living.
