Montana changes license plate design to prevent ticket errors
A new law in Montana will change the design of license plates starting March 17. This change aims to prevent confusion caused by the bullhead symbol, which has led to misreadings and wrongful parking tickets for drivers. Previously, drivers like Jadon Schwartz received tickets for vehicles they did not own due to errors in automated license plate readers. The DMV reported that these issues have become more frequent, occurring one or two times a month. The new plates will feature unique alpha characters, reducing the chances of future mix-ups. However, it will take years for all drivers to receive the updated plates, as replacements occur every five years.
