Morgan Reczkiewicz leads Oak Forest during recovery
Morgan Reczkiewicz, a junior player for Oak Forest, is making her mark even while sidelined due to knee surgery. She had surgery for a torn ACL and meniscus in late October, and cannot play this season. Despite this, she has taken on a coaching role, guiding her teammates during practices and games. Reczkiewicz's enthusiasm shines through her efforts. Senior teammate MacKenzie Kerr notes that Morgan's voice adds energy and support to the team. During a recent practice, Reczkiewicz helped prepare the players and emphasized the importance of staying connected to the team’s culture. Prior to her injury, Reczkiewicz was a standout player, boasting a .461 batting average and impressive stats. Her injury occurred during a volleyball game when she fell awkwardly. Though she initially thought the injury wasn't serious, it turned out to be significant. After her surgery, Reczkiewicz committed to play softball at Central Connecticut. However, she missed Halloween due to her recovery. In a twist of fate, her sister Kelsey also suffered an ACL injury this winter, creating a bond through their shared experiences in physical therapy. While she hopes to return for her senior year, her coach, Nick Fuentes, describes her as irreplaceable and acknowledges the challenge of adapting without her. Reczkiewicz remains motivated by her connection with her teammates, knowing they look up to her as a leader.
