Morgantown to repair downtown roads this week
The city of Morgantown is teaming up with the West Virginia Division of Highways to fix the deteriorating roads in its downtown area. Work will start on Tuesday, focusing on Spruce and High streets. City crews will patch the roads intermittently between 5:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. This means that some travel lanes will be closed, which may lead to traffic delays. The city expects to finish the patching work by the end of the week. Since the main roads downtown are state routes, both state and local resources are being used for this project. Morgantown Communications Director Brad Riffee noted that the Department of Highways will provide asphalt, truck, and driver help. Meanwhile, the city will take care of traffic control, equipment, and labor needs.
