Mortgage rates in U.S. rise after seven-week decline
Mortgage rates in the U.S. increased slightly last week, ending a seven-week decline. The average rate for a 30-year mortgage rose to 6.65%, up from 6.63% the previous week, according to Freddie Mac. The average rate for 15-year fixed-rate mortgages also increased to 5.8% from 5.79%. A year ago, the 30-year rate was 6.74%, while the 15-year rate was 6.16%. Tesla has expressed concerns about potential retaliatory tariffs amid a trade dispute initiated by President Trump. The company warned that these tariffs could harm U.S. businesses, echoing worries from other automakers about rising costs and supply chain issues.
