A survey by the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong found that only one-third of parents recognize that calling their children names or showing emotional detachment can be considered child abuse. The survey, conducted with over 2,500 parents, highlights a significant gap in understanding ahead of new mandatory child abuse reporting laws. Nearly 70 percent of parents were unaware of the upcoming law, and many lacked knowledge about psychological abuse, despite being able to identify physical and sexual abuse more accurately.
