Mother arrested for murder after baby's death in Franklinton

A woman from Franklinton has been arrested for first-degree murder after her 8-month-old son died from severe injuries. The police announced the arrest on Wednesday. Autumn Hano Harper, 24, is in custody at Washington Parish Jail. Authorities say she made a statement that implicated herself in the child's death. The baby, identified as Sterling Rogers, had multiple broken bones, both old and new. On March 12, police were called to a local medical center after the child was found injured. Sterling was later airlifted to a children's hospital in New Orleans, where he sadly died on Monday. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the boy's death. Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown called the case one of the most shocking he has seen in his career.
