Mother charged after daughter's fatal driveway accident in Texas

A mother in Texas has been charged after her 18-month-old daughter was killed in a driveway accident. The incident happened on Saturday at around 12:30 p.m. in northwest Harris County. The toddler, named Cora, was reportedly playing outside when her mother's boyfriend, Cameron Link, accidentally ran her over as he drove into the driveway. Cora was pronounced dead at the scene. The mother, Morgan Ottiger, 31, was charged with reckless serious bodily injury to a child. She appeared in court on Monday and appeared emotional during the proceedings. Family members have expressed concern for the safety of Cora and her siblings. They said they had to intervene before due to past incidents. Cora’s grandparents are devastated and shared they were excited to celebrate her first birthday. Instead, they are mourning her loss. They said Morgan’s past issues with drug possession contributed to child protective services being involved with her other children. Cameron Link, 41, has not been charged in this case but was arrested on other felony warrants over the weekend. During this time, Link's brother spoke out, expressing sadness about the family's situation and the accident. Authorities are investigating further, including possible substance use by Morgan at the time of the incident. They also stated that the couple may have delayed calling 911 after Cora was hit. The Harris County District Attorney called the tragedy a completely preventable situation and emphasized the need for an investigation into the events leading up to Cora's death.
