MP advocates for sports infrastructure in Visakhapatnam
Member of Parliament Sribharat from Visakhapatnam has urged the Indian government to enhance sports infrastructure in the city. He met with Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya to discuss important proposals. The main focus of their discussion was two projects. The first is a Multi-purpose Indoor Hall as part of the Khelo India Scheme. This facility is planned to be built in Chinagadili, near the Skill Development Corporation in Arilova. It is expected to cost ₹14 crore and will support various sports like badminton, volleyball, judo, wrestling, handball, and kabaddi. The second project is the creation of a National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) in Visakhapatnam. Mr. Sribharat stated that the state government is ready to provide land for this center. The NCoE is designed to offer high-level training facilities and expert coaching to athletes, not just from Andhra Pradesh, but from all over India. He believes these initiatives will boost the sports culture in Visakhapatnam. They will encourage young athletes and establish the city as a center for sporting success. Mr. Sribharat is optimistic that the Indian government will support these projects, helping to develop sports infrastructure and inspire youth to pursue sports careers.
