MU student claims examiner missed grading half his answers
A third-year law student at the University of Mumbai has claimed that the examiner did not check half of his answers on a recent exam. Kuldeep Saroj alleges that five out of ten answers were not evaluated, leading to a failing score of 20.5 marks in a subject called Bharatiya Nagrik Surkasha Sanhita, 2023. Since receiving his results on February 13, Saroj has tried to get his answer sheet reviewed. He is uncertain about whether to take the upcoming ATKT exam scheduled for April 4. After his disappointing score, he requested a photocopy and revaluation of his paper. Upon reviewing the photocopy, he discovered that five answers had not been graded. Saroj approached the examination department for help but received no response despite multiple visits. He then wrote to the director of the Examination and Evaluation Department asking for urgent attention. He was eventually directed to a staff member but was told there was no timeline for when the revaluation would be finished. His classmates are urging the university to act quickly, as delays could hinder Saroj's academic progress. He also mentioned a similar issue in another subject, where one answer was unchecked, although he had passed that exam. An official from MU stated that the revaluation process is ongoing and results will be announced when available. This case is not the first concerning MU’s examination department; another student previously alleged that officials had tampered with his marks, and that matter is currently under judicial review.
