"Mufasa: The Lion King" streams on Disney Plus March 26

A new Hollywood blockbuster is set to debut on Disney Plus this week. Disney's latest live-action remake, Snow White, was released in theaters last weekend. However, another highly anticipated film, Mufasa: The Lion King, will start streaming on Disney Plus on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. This musical prequel tells the story of Simba's father, Mufasa, before his tragic death. The film features returning voice actors from the 2019 remake, including Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner. New cast members include Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose, and Blue Ivy Carter. Mufasa: The Lion King is directed by Oscar-winner Barry Jenkins. It is dedicated to the late James Earl Jones, who voiced Mufasa in both the original 1994 animated film and the 2019 remake.
