Mulgao residents urge Vedanta to respect Regional Plan 2021
Local residents in Mulgao are demanding that Vedanta, a mining company, comply with the Regional Plan 2021. They are calling on the government to ensure that the company excludes homes, water bodies, and temples from its mining lease. The community is frustrated after submitting six resolutions to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant without any response. If their concerns are not addressed, locals plan to march to the assembly. Putulo Gad, a resident, stated that the government has shown little interest in resolving these issues. Maheshwar Parab, another local, mentioned that around 400 to 450 farmers are prepared to participate in the march during an upcoming assembly session. The exact date of the march will be decided in a future meeting. Residents like Prakash Parab expressed concerns about the negative effects on the community if the mining activity is close to homes, as proposed by Vedanta. The meeting included former village leader Trupti Gad and other community members, who are united in their opposition to the mining plans.
