Multan Sultans criticized for mocking Rohit Sharma
The Multan Sultans, a team in the Pakistan Super League, are facing backlash on social media after a comment aimed at Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma. Led by Mohammad Rizwan, the team used an audio clip of Rohit from a press conference to hype the PSL 2025 trophy unveiling. Fans were critical of this choice, calling it disrespectful. One user condemned the move, claiming it was shameful. Another called it inappropriate to use Rohit’s voice in their promotional material. The timing of the controversy is notable, as Pakistan had a disappointing performance in the recent Champions Trophy. They did not win any games, while India, under Rohit’s captaincy, remained undefeated. The Pakistan Super League is set to kick off on April 11. This year, it will coincide with the Indian Premier League, making it challenging for the PSL to attract international players. In recent news, South African player Corbin Bosch withdrew from the PSL to join the Mumbai Indians instead. The league will feature 30 matches, with the opener between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars. Rawalpindi will host 11 games, and Lahore will host 13. The PSL’s struggles come as it competes directly with the IPL, which runs from March 22 to May 25.
