Mumbai airport passenger fees to rise next financial year

Flying from Mumbai International Airport will soon become more expensive. The Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) has proposed a significant increase in the User Development Fee (UDF) for passengers. International travelers might see their UDF rise from Rs 187 to Rs 650. Domestic passengers, who currently do not pay this fee, may have to pay Rs 325. This proposal will be decided in a meeting on March 25 in Delhi. Despite the fee increase, MIAL is also suggesting a 35 percent reduction in landing and parking charges for airlines. This move aims to balance the new fees with savings for airlines operating at the airport. MIAL has stated that the proposed fee hike is necessary to support the modernization of the airport. They are investing in improving passenger facilities and overall infrastructure. A meeting will involve all stakeholders to gather feedback before making a final decision on these proposals. The Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) will evaluate and approve all new tariffs. Mumbai International Airport is categorized as a major airport, serving over 3.5 million passengers annually.
