Mumbai airport seizes Rs 11 crore liquid cocaine

Mumbai International Airport authorities have arrested a Brazilian woman for smuggling liquid cocaine valued at Rs 11 crore, about $1.3 million. The operation was led by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) after they received a tip-off regarding a foreign national carrying drugs into India. The woman arrived on flight AF 218 from Sao Paulo. After a thorough investigation, officials discovered seven pouches filled with a viscous liquid stitched into her inner clothing. A field test confirmed that the substance was cocaine. She confessed to transporting 1.11 kilograms of liquid cocaine. Liquid cocaine is more dangerous and harder to detect than powdered cocaine. Smugglers often mix it with perfumes or other liquids to evade security checks. The DRI is now working to trace the source of the drugs and uncover the larger drug trafficking network involved in this case. India has seen an increase in drug smuggling incidents recently, prompting authorities to strengthen their efforts against such activities. The woman has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
