Mumbai court reviews chargesheet against Choksi brothers
A special court in Mumbai has acknowledged the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Siddharth Choksi and Abhay Choksi. They are accused of being involved in illegal overseas transactions and using tax havens. The ED had previously seized assets worth around Rs 8 crore from the two accused. This includes tax-free bonds and a plot of land in Pune. The investigation started after the Income Tax department raised complaints about them. According to the ED, Siddharth and Abhay Choksi are the beneficial owners of an offshore company called Blue Mist International Inc. This company is registered in the British Virgin Islands and has a bank account in Singapore. The ED claims that Blue Mist International entered into a deal with HKCL Investments for property in Singapore. It is also reported that the Choksi brothers hold undisclosed foreign income and assets amounting to Rs 8.09 crore, which the ED described as "proceeds of crime."
