Mumbai doctor sentenced to three years for molestation
A sessions court in Mumbai has sentenced a 66-year-old doctor to three years in prison for molesting a 17-year-old girl. The girl worked at a shop owned by him in Ghatkopar. The incident occurred on March 22, 2018. The girl went to the doctor's house to pick up keys for the shop. While she was there, the doctor allegedly called her into the storeroom and sexually harassed her. After the incident, she quickly returned home and told her uncle, who then helped her report it to the police. An FIR was filed against the doctor under the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act. The prosecution presented four witnesses, along with CCTV evidence, to support the case. The court found enough evidence to prove the allegations against the doctor. The judge stated that the doctor had violated the modesty of the girl and made unwanted physical contact with her. In the court's ruling, it noted that the incident had negatively affected the victim's mental state. The doctor was sentenced to three years in jail and ordered to pay ₹ 6,000 in compensation.
