Mumbai: The Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi corridor has made over Rs 1,300 crore in toll revenue within two years of opening. The six-lane expressway has seen about 2 crore vehicles use it since its launch. A senior official from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) said that once the final segment of the corridor opens in April, the number of vehicles is expected to increase. This could help the state earn more than Rs 1,200 crore in annual toll revenue. The cost of the project is expected to be recovered well before the concession period ends in 2045. Currently, the corridor serves around 11 lakh vehicles each month. The toll revenue has steadily increased each year, with last year generating Rs 676 crore, compared to Rs 476 crore the year before. In the first three months of 2025, Rs 187 crore was earned from tolls. The state government has allowed MSRDC to raise toll rates. Starting April 1, the one-way toll for cars and SUVs will rise from Rs 1,250 to Rs 1,450 for the full 701 km stretch. Some activists have protested this increase, arguing it is premature since the first stretch has not yet completed three years in operation.
