Mumbai names Shreyas Iyer as captain for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy squad, Prithvi Shaw returns
Mumbai has announced its 17-member squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, with Shreyas Iyer as captain. Notably, Suryakumar Yadav is absent due to personal reasons, while Prithvi Shaw returns after being dropped from the Ranji Trophy squad for fitness issues. Shaw's inclusion comes after concerns about his weight and training attendance. He has struggled in recent matches, scoring only 7, 12, 1, and 39* in the Ranji Trophy. Akhil Herwadkar replaced him in that squad. Iyer has been in excellent form, scoring 452 runs in the Ranji Trophy season. The squad also features Ajinkya Rahane, Shardul Thakur, and Tanush Kotian, who recently played for India A in Australia. The tournament runs from November 23 to December 15.
