Mumbai to establish India’s first creative technology institute
Maharashtra will establish India's first Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) in Mumbai, funded by Rs400 crore from the central government. The institute will focus on advanced creative technologies like VFX, animation, and AI-driven storytelling. The IICT will be located in Goregaon's Film City, a key area for the entertainment industry. It aims to become a center of excellence for creative professionals, similar to IIT Bombay's role in engineering. The announcement was made at the World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (Waves 2025), which will take place in Mumbai from May 1 to May 4, 2025. The summit will attract global participation and promote investment in India's media and entertainment sector.
