Mumbai's air quality worsens post-Diwali with moderate AQI readings
Mumbai's air quality has worsened post-Diwali, with the Central Pollution Control Board reporting an Air Quality Index (AQI) in the 'moderate' range. However, nine out of 22 monitoring stations recorded 'poor' AQI levels. Colaba had the highest AQI at 305, followed by Sewri at 284. Other areas like Kandivali and Malad also reported significant pollution levels. The overall AQI scale ranges from good (0-50) to severe (above 400). Experts attribute the decline in air quality to seasonal changes, including the recent end of the monsoon and delayed sea breezes. This has caused particulate matter to become trapped in the atmosphere.
