Munawar Faruqui promotes simple weddings, discourages dowry

Munawar Faruqui recently shared details about his small wedding with Mehzabeen Coatwala. The couple got married in a private nikaah ceremony last year. Faruqui stressed that people should avoid dowry and not spend excessively on weddings. In a podcast with Sana Khan and Mufti Anas, Faruqui explained his reasons for the intimate wedding. He discussed his belief in helping others and how important it is to support those in need. He stated, "If Allah has sent him to you, then help them." Faruqui also expressed concerns about the concept of dowry. He advised against giving dowry and spending large sums on wedding events. He mentioned that he fears the evil eye and wants to keep his family safe from negative influences. Before his wedding, Faruqui faced health problems that required hospitalization. He acknowledged that his marriage to Mehzabeen has brought stability to his life. Mehzabeen is a makeup artist who was previously married and has a daughter, while Faruqui also has a son from his first marriage.
