Murder charges filed in East Chicago teen's shooting

A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed in East Chicago on Friday morning. Police responded to reports of gunfire and found Justin Charleston unresponsive at a nearby location. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Murder charges have been filed against a 16-year-old boy in connection with the shooting. The juvenile turned himself in to detectives with his attorney on Saturday. The Lake County Coroner’s office will conduct a forensic autopsy on Charleston. Multiple agencies, including the East Chicago Police and Fire Departments, assisted in the investigation.
