Murmu emphasizes emotional well-being at AIIMS convocation
President Droupadi Murmu spoke at the 49th convocation of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. She praised AIIMS for its commitment to healthcare and for following the principles of "Karma Yoga" from the holy Gita. She highlighted AIIMS's strong global reputation in medical education and research. Murmu pointed out that emotional well-being is an important issue today. She called on AIIMS faculty to create programs to raise awareness about mental health. Many often overlook this critical aspect of health. She urged students and doctors to help those in need. The President also addressed the shortage of medical professionals in certain regions. She encouraged graduates to consider working in these underserved areas. During the ceremony, AIIMS recognized eight doctors with lifetime achievement awards. They also awarded medals and book prizes to 28 students and doctors, while nine others received appreciation prizes. In total, 1,886 degrees were conferred in various medical specializations.
