Muthupatti roads cause serious commuter challenges

thehindu.com

Residents of Muthupatti are struggling with poor road conditions that have turned their daily commutes into a challenge. Despite numerous complaints, the roads remain in disrepair after pipeline work was done for drinking water. Naresh, a local resident, explained that the authorities dug up the road for construction, which faced delays. Now, even with the work finished, the road is still not in a usable state. One side is passable, but the other is covered in debris and mud, especially after recent rains. Pandiarajan, another resident, highlighted the ongoing issues caused by the bad roads. Many workers, who depend on these routes to get to their jobs, have fallen and injured themselves. Elderly people and children are often unable to go out, staying indoors instead. The situation worsens when garbage trucks travel through, damaging the road even more. Recently, waterlogging made parts of the road unusable, forcing people to park their cars further away. Auto-rickshaw drivers are avoiding the area, adding to the difficulties for residents, especially in emergencies. Earlier this week, officials from the local Corporation pledged to repair the road. Residents are hopeful that repairs will happen soon.
