Myanmar repatriates 2,876 Chinese telecom fraud suspects
Myanmar has repatriated 2,876 Chinese nationals suspected of telecom fraud back to China. This operation, involving China, Myanmar, and Thailand, aims to combat international crime and protect citizens from scams. The repatriation included 2,255 suspects transported on chartered flights under Chinese police supervision. This follows a crackdown on gangs operating scam centers along the Myanmar-Thailand border. Last month, a Chinese court sentenced four key figures in telecom fraud to life imprisonment. Armed groups in Myanmar have been accused of facilitating these scams and exploiting trafficking victims.
