Myles Lewis-Skelly called up to England national team
Arsenal player Myles Lewis-Skelly has received his first call-up to the England national team. The 18-year-old was excited to meet fellow teammate Dan Burn during training at St. George's Park. Lewis-Skelly, standing at 5 feet 10 inches, was surprised by Burn's impressive height of 6 feet 7 inches. In a video shared on social media, Lewis-Skelly joked, "Nah, this is too much! Oh my goodness. This is a joke." Burn, who recently scored for Newcastle in a cup win, laughed off the comments, saying, "Everyone gets it, mate." Both players are at the England camp for the first time. While they were friendly in their encounter, competition may arise as they aim for playing time. Burn, primarily a centre-back, might be switched to left-back, an area where Lewis-Skelly has performed well for Arsenal this season. Current injuries to other players leave the door open for both to compete for a spot in the lineup against Albania soon. Former Newcastle player Alan Shearer expressed support for Burn, mentioning he would love to see him make his international debut and score at Wembley. Shearer believes Burn can succeed at the national level despite the timing of his call-up.
