Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has presented a budget of Rs 1,228 crore for the year 2025-26. This budget aims to address several challenges in the city, including parking issues near Mysuru Palace and on D Devaraj Urs Road. Regional commissioner DS Ramesh announced the budget, which is expected to generate Rs 918 crore in revenue. This includes Rs 392 crore from its own sources and Rs 525 crore from various grants. The MCC plans to spend Rs 1,219 crore, resulting in a surplus budget. They anticipate Rs 252 crore in revenue from property tax alone. To address water leakage issues, the MCC will install bulk flow meters at 44 locations. They are also upgrading the Kabini-Kembalu water purification plant to increase its capacity. A skywalk for female students at Maharani's Women College is in the plans, built under a public-private partnership model. Moreover, the MCC is clearing legacy waste at the Vidyaranyapuram solid waste management plant and will hand over the site to Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited for a waste-to-energy project. Plans are underway to set up a construction waste recycling plant with support from state and central grants. The MCC also aims to provide e-khata and b-khata certification to property owners in various layouts.
