Mysuru: Shashi C, a transwoman from Mysuru, has made history by becoming the first lawyer from the trans community in her state to pass the All India Bar Examination. This achievement allows her to practice law independently. Shashi graduated with her LLB from Vidyavardhaka Law College in 2021. After graduation, she received provisional enrollment to practice law. Currently, she is gaining experience by working under established advocates U Nagaraju and B Parashiva. "My dream is to become a judge, and I am preparing for the examination. I am confident that I will realize my dream," Shashi said. S Lokesh, president of the Mysuru Bar Association, noted that passing the bar examination has been mandatory for advocates since 2009. To sign legal documents known as vakalat, clearing this exam is essential.
