Mysuru's Joint Director of Agriculture, KH Ravi, issued a warning on Tuesday about shops selling seeds and fertilizers above the maximum retail price. He stated that such shops could face seizure if they do not comply with the law. During a meeting with the Fertiliser, Seed, and Pesticide Dealers Association, Ravi urged dealers to provide good service to farmers. He noted that farmers have raised concerns about some stores not displaying price lists, which is mandatory. He emphasized the importance of transparency in pricing to build trust with customers. Ravi also mentioned that profitability is important, but charging excessively high prices due to greed is unacceptable. He pointed out that some stores fail to provide receipts, which could lead to accountability issues if problems arise. The role of seed and fertilizer dealers is crucial for ensuring food self-sufficiency in the country. Therefore, he urged them to operate professionally and prioritize farmers' needs. Additionally, HM Nagaraj, the joint director of horticulture in Mysuru, raised concerns about the excessive use of pesticides in recent years, which he said could harm public health. He encouraged dealers to educate farmers about the safe use of pesticides for better quality food production. At the meeting, international kho-kho player B Chaitra was honored for her achievements.
