Nadine Menendez's bribery trial begins Tuesday
Nadine Menendez, the wife of former U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, is set to begin her bribery trial on Tuesday. This comes after her husband was found guilty of bribery in July. Jury selection for Nadine's trial will take place soon. A judge decided she would be tried separately from her husband due to her recent breast cancer diagnosis. Nadine Menendez faces several charges, including conspiracy to commit bribery, fraud, and extortion. An indictment claims that she and her husband received gifts worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. These included gold bars, cash, and a Mercedes-Benz. In return, they allegedly helped businessmen and the governments of Egypt and Qatar. Nadine has pleaded not guilty. In July, her husband was sentenced to 11 years in prison for his involvement in the bribery case. Ahead of the trial, Bob Menendez expressed concern on social media about the timing of his wife's trial. He highlighted that she recently had surgery and believes her case should be delayed for her recovery.
