Nagpur awards boost recognition for grassroots changemakers
Nagpur has seen a significant boost for local changemakers thanks to the Nagpur Heroes Awards. This initiative, launched by The Times of India and Maharashtra Times, recognizes grassroots leaders making a difference in society. Over the last decade, it has helped many individuals gain visibility and support. Tanveer Mirza, recognized in 2019 for his work in social entrepreneurship, believes the awards changed the game for his organization. His events now draw over 1,000 participants from across India. "This wouldn't have been possible without TOI," he said. He pointed out that many people have great ideas in agricultural development but often lack the necessary resources to bring them to life. Similarly, the Green Vigil Foundation has benefited from its connection to the Nagpur Heroes Awards. Founded in 2010, the organization received two awards in 2014, which helped establish its reputation. Kaustuv Chatterjee, the founder, stated that the recognition not only validated their work but also motivated their younger team. Since receiving the awards, Green Vigil has won 68 additional honors. Chatterjee emphasized that the recognition from TOI Nagpur Heroes has had a lasting impact. As these organizations thrive, TOI Nagpur Heroes continues to connect local ideas with broader opportunities, creating a promising future for community changemakers.
