Nagpur doctors want easier hospital renewal processes

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Doctors in Nagpur are asking the state government to make the hospital renewal process easier. They want to reduce paperwork and eliminate the need for several clearance certificates. This request comes from private doctors, especially those who manage small and mid-sized hospitals. During a meeting with Maharashtra health minister Prakash Abitkar, doctors shared their concerns about strict rules. They believe that small hospitals should be treated differently than larger corporate hospitals. IMA Nagpur president Dr. Manjusha Giri highlighted that small hospitals are essential for community healthcare. She also pointed out issues with high fees and renewal requirements from the Maharashtra Medical Council. Minister Abitkar listened to their complaints and promised to set up a meeting within two weeks to address these issues. Doctors also expressed worries about the quality of new government medical colleges. They believe that if colleges expand, they need to be well-equipped and have qualified teachers. It is important for the education and training of future doctors. Earlier in the day, Abitkar visited the Regional Mental Hospital. He learned about various projects, including the 'Udaan' initiative and Tele-MANAS services. He also spoke with patients and checked the hospital’s wards. At Daga Women's Hospital, he toured different wards and talked with staff about healthcare challenges they face.
