Nagpur University faces criticism for flawed annual reports
Nagpur University faced embarrassment during a recent Senate meeting. Major errors were discovered in the university’s annual reports, including spelling mistakes and incorrect titles. The acting vice chancellor, Madhavi Khode-Chavre, called for immediate corrections and set up a committee to prevent future errors. Senate members expressed shock when they reviewed reports on general activities, physical education, and student development. They refused to approve the reports, which needed to be submitted to the governor, who is the university's chancellor. One glaring issue was the incorrect title for the governor on the first page. Khode-Chavre admitted she noticed issues when she received PowerPoint presentations from two departments. She expected better from the university. One Senate member highlighted that the name of a college was mistranslated. Another noted that the report misidentified a group and lacked details on activities from affiliated colleges. Registrar Raju Hiwase explained that only a few copies were printed for the Senate, and corrected versions would be shared in PDF format before printing more. Committee member Payal Thaore criticized the report for only listing achievements without explaining activities, calling it more of a compilation than a true report. Senate members agreed that a detailed report is crucial for showcasing student achievements, as it reflects on the university’s image.
