Nain mother teaches Inuit drum dancing to connect youth with culture

A mother in Nain, Crystal Allen, is teaching Inuit drum dancing to children, a tradition that helped her connect with her culture as a teenager. She started the 'Little Drummers' group, which has quickly grown in size. Allen, now a cultural program manager, aims to create a dedicated indoor practice space for the group. She hopes the workshops will also provide a safe environment for youth to discuss their feelings and celebrate their heritage. The group has learned a few songs and Allen plans to involve more community members and instructors. She encourages all children to join and experience the joy of drumming.
