Nandi Hills bans vehicles on weekdays for road work

thehindu.com

Nandi Hills, a popular tourist spot in Chikkaballapur district, will ban vehicle access on weekdays starting March 24 until April 25. This decision is due to road asphalting work on a 7.70-kilometer stretch. The District Magistrate announced that vehicles can still enter during the weekends. Access will be allowed from Friday at 6:30 p.m. until Monday at 8 a.m. The asphalting project will cost ₹4.90 crore. The narrow roads and sharp curves at Nandi Hills led contractors to request the traffic ban to ensure safety and speed up the repairs. The Assistant Executive Engineer also supported this recommendation. Visitors can still trek the hills on foot during the weekday ban.
