Nandini launches idli-dosa batter for online sales
The Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) is excited to launch its idli-dosa batter in April. This batter, sold under the Nandini brand, has whey protein and was introduced in Bengaluru on December 26. It is already popular, averaging daily sales of 4,600 kilograms. KMF aims to increase sales to 15,000 kilograms per day within three months. Currently, the batter is available only at Nandini outlets in Bengaluru. Starting in April, it will also be sold on e-commerce sites like Blinkit, BigBasket, and Zepto, as well as in major supermarkets. The prices are Rs 40 for a 450-gram pack and Rs 80 for a 900-gram pack. To keep up with growing demand, KMF has increased the production capacity of its plant from 5,000 to 10,000 kilograms daily. They are also looking to open more manufacturing units in the future. After Nandini launched its batter, competitors like iD Fresh Food quickly responded by offering new types of batters. KMF expects that sales will triple as the product expands to more retail spaces. Other companies are watching closely and some have already started creating their own protein-rich batters or are cutting prices to compete. In addition to expanding in Bengaluru, KMF plans to reach cities like Mysuru, Mangaluru, Tumakuru, and Hubballi within the next two months by setting up local production units. Urban consumers want quick and easy meal options, and Nandini is known for its quality products. Meanwhile, Mother Dairy has also entered the market with its own idli-dosa batter under the 'Safal' brand in Delhi.
