Nanoleaf launches affordable PC light strip in US

techradar.com

Nanoleaf has introduced a new light strip designed for PC gaming. It connects to computers using USB-C, which reduces latency compared to systems that use a camera. This makes it a cheaper option for gamers looking to enhance their setup. The PC Screen Mirror Lightstrip works by casting colors on the wall behind the monitor, matching the on-screen action. This feature helps create an immersive experience similar to Ambilight TVs, which extend screen colors beyond the display. Many existing alternatives use cameras to detect screen colors, but this can lead to delays and inaccuracies under certain lighting. Nanoleaf's new product tackles this issue by connecting directly to the PC and syncing with the monitor’s data. The light strip is designed to be user-friendly. Its zig-zag shape enables it to easily bend around corners, making installation simpler. It can fit monitors up to 32 inches and can be trimmed for smaller screens. Users can control the light strip with Nanoleaf's desktop software, compatible with both Windows and macOS. However, it does not work with the mobile app at this time. The PC Screen Mirror Lightstrip is now available for pre-order at $49.99 in the U.S. and £39.99 in the UK, with deliveries expected by the end of March. Pricing and launch details for Australia are still pending.
