Napa Valley mother arrested after fatal DUI crash
A mother in Napa Valley has been arrested after a tragic car crash that killed her two young children. Yesica Barajas, 31, was allegedly driving under the influence when her car crashed on Sunday morning. Her son, 10-year-old Damien Montanez, and her daughter, 9-year-old Aaliyah Montanez, both died at the scene. The accident occurred at around 7 a.m. when Barajas's Nissan sedan veered off the highway and hit a tree. The crash caused the airbags to deploy, but unfortunately, the children did not survive. Barajas suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital. She is currently in custody and will face DUI-related charges, which could include a felony charge. Family members are grieving the loss of Damien and Aaliyah. They described the children as sweet and loving, noting they enjoyed camping with their grandparents. An online fundraiser for their funeral expenses has raised over $21,000 within a short period. The local school district is offering support to students and staff affected by this tragedy. A spokesperson expressed condolences to the family and the community, emphasizing the shared grief during this difficult time.
