Naperville artists invited for Water Street art fair

Local artists are invited to participate in the 2nd annual Water Street Fine Art & Fine Craft Fair in Naperville. The event is scheduled for Sunday, July 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will take place along Water and Webster streets. The fair welcomes artists from the suburban Chicago area working in various mediums like painting, drawing, and sculpture. There will also be activities for children and live jazz music by the Pete Ellman Trio. Artists can apply until May 16, and a jury will select between 30 to 35 participants. The fair is organized by Water Street Naperville and Marquette Cos. A $250 prize will be awarded to the "best of show," along with several honorable mentions. In other news, the College of DuPage has launched a free workforce training program for clean energy jobs. This initiative is backed by a $3.1 million grant from the Illinois Climate and Equitable Jobs Act. It aims to assist people from environmental justice communities and those facing job barriers to enter the clean energy workforce. The program is part of the Aurora Workforce Hub, which offers 176 hours of skills-based education. The College of DuPage will work with other community colleges and organizations to provide training and certifications. After completing the initial training, students can engage in work-based learning or pursue further specialization. Lastly, Knox Presbyterian Church will host a Lenten art exhibit featuring Rev. Shawna Bowman's works from April 14 to April 18. The exhibit aims to explore themes of power and hope. Visitors can reflect on the artwork with a provided brochure. The exhibit will be open to the public for free, with specific viewing times set. This is the second year the church has offered such an art experience.
