Narathiwat warns residents about potential car bomb threat
Residents in Narathiwat province are on high alert for a stolen Honda Civic. Authorities fear the old-model car may be used by insurgents as a car bomb. The provincial public relations office issued a warning on Tuesday, asking people to look out for a blue Honda Civic from the early 1990s. The car is described as the "iron version" because of its unique hood design. Officials stressed that anyone who sees the car should call 1341 to report it. This warning comes amid rising violence in the region, particularly with car bomb incidents increasing since Ramadan began earlier this month. The most recent attack happened on Monday when a timed explosive went off in a Suzuki Swift. The driver, a defense volunteer named Suyanee Seeba, was heading to work when the bomb detonated, causing serious injuries to her and injuring three others, including a 6-year-old girl. Authorities believe the bomb was meant to explode after she parked her car at the office. On March 8, several bombs were set off at the district office and other locations in the Sungai Kolok district in Narathiwat. Security concerns continue to grow in the area as authorities work to prevent further attacks.
