NASA is set to track a temporary asteroid, named 2024 PT5, which has been orbiting Earth since last month. This mini moon is about 33 feet wide and will remain for nearly two months before leaving in late November. The asteroid is located much farther from Earth than the Moon. NASA's Goldstone Solar System Radar will monitor its path, with a close pass expected in January 2025. It may return in 2055. 2024 PT5 was discovered in August by astronomers in South Africa. It is believed to be a piece of rock ejected from the Moon after an impact. The asteroid will not be visible to the naked eye.
