NASA unveils high-definition lunar sunset images
NASA has shared stunning high-definition images of a sunset on the moon captured by the Blue Ghost lander. The robotic craft completed its two-week mission and then went silent. The Blue Ghost, made by Firefly Aerospace, landed on the moon on March 2. Its main job was to deliver scientific instruments. Throughout its mission, it took images every ten minutes during the sunset for five hours. The beautiful photos show the sun setting behind the moon's rocky horizon. The images also capture moments from a total lunar eclipse that occurred on March 14. Overall, the Blue Ghost gathered nearly 9,000 images and 10 gigabytes of data. This data will help scientists understand how the lander's engine affects the lunar surface. NASA plans to try to revive the Blue Ghost in April.
