NASA's ISS aids research for future moon missions
NASA's International Space Station (ISS) is supporting new research for moon exploration. Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost Mission-1, which landed on the moon on March 2, 2025, is conducting experiments based on ISS research. One experiment, the Lunar Environment Heliospheric X-ray Imager (LEXI), studies Earth's magnetic environment and solar wind interactions. Another, the Radiation Tolerant Computer System (RadPC), tests computer resilience against radiation on the moon. Additionally, the Lunar Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Receiver Experiment (LuGRE) has successfully received navigation signals on the lunar surface. The ISS continues to play a key role in developing technologies for future lunar missions.
