Nashville Cluck disputes zero-star hygiene rating in Liverpool
A popular Liverpool restaurant, Nashville Cluck, is facing scrutiny after receiving a zero-star hygiene rating. This rating is the lowest possible from inspectors. The restaurant opened in October 2022 and quickly became known for its fried chicken, even outselling McDonald's in the city. The inspection took place on February 12, conducted by Liverpool City Council's environmental health team. They highlighted issues in hygienic food handling, food safety management, and cleanliness at the premises where Nashville Cluck operates, alongside other businesses. In response, a spokesperson for Nashville Cluck stated they were disappointed with the rating. They believe it does not reflect their high standards. The spokesperson emphasized the investments the restaurant has made, including sourcing ingredients from the U.S. and using top-quality equipment. They also pointed out that concerns raised in the inspection were mostly linked to a separate catering unit in the same building. Nashville Cluck operates from different kitchens and insists that the zero rating does not affect their food safety or quality. The business has requested a follow-up inspection and is hopeful for a better rating. They previously received a four-star rating in January 2025 and are confident they can achieve a five-star rating to match their commitment to hygiene.
