Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern is an overconfident "jerk."

Nathan Fillion will portray Green Lantern Guy Gardner in the upcoming Superman film directed by James Gunn. Fillion revealed that his version of Gardner will be different from past portrayals. This Guy Gardner is not very charming and has a strong sense of overconfidence. Fillion described Gardner as believing he can take on Superman, though he cannot. This new Superman film is part of a rebooted DC Cinematic Universe. It will kick off the first chapter titled Gods and Monsters. In addition to the film, HBO is working on a series called Lanterns featuring other Green Lantern characters. Kyle Chandler will play Hal Jordan, and Aaron Pierre will portray John Stewart. This series is scheduled to premiere in 2026. The new Superman film will star David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. It is set to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025.
