National University opens campuses in Las Piñas, Cebu
National University (NU) in the Philippines is celebrating its 125th anniversary by opening two new campuses this year. One campus will be in Cebu and the other in Las Piñas, bringing the total number of NU campuses to 14. This expansion aims to increase student enrollment to 85,000, demonstrating NU's commitment to providing accessible and quality education. The new campuses will be located within SM properties, which aligns with NU's goal of reaching more students across the country. The Sy family, who leads NU, believe that education can help break the cycle of poverty. This belief motivates their support of the university, which has been ongoing since 2008. Renato Carlos Ermita Jr., NU's president and CEO, stated that their mission is to ensure that more Filipinos, regardless of background, have access to excellent education. NU also maintains an open admissions policy and conducts assessments to help senior high school graduates become ready for college.
