Nawaz Sharif urged to unite Pakistan against terrorism
Khurram Dastgir Khan, a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), believes that party president Nawaz Sharif can effectively lead efforts to unite against terrorism in Pakistan. He made this statement during a meeting in London. Dastgir suggested including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), in the federal cabinet. He emphasized that a strong consensus among political parties is essential to combat terrorism. Dastgir noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently returned from a trip to Saudi Arabia, and discussions are ongoing about how to achieve this unity. He explained that recent terrorist attacks indicate a rise in insurgency and that Sharif is the best choice to guide a dialogue on this issue. The PML-N is considering various ways to facilitate discussions, which could include parliamentary debates. Dastgir also praised Fazlur Rehman for his strong stance against terrorism, especially in light of recent incidents. He expressed a desire for the federal government to create a political space for Rehman in the provincial arena, reinforcing the idea that his voice should be included in efforts against terrorism.
